8/10/1894Varahagiri Venkata Giri, the fourth former President of India, was born at Berhampur in Orissa. He was one of the patriarchs of Trade Union Movement of India.

2/22/1858Gannau resident of Samosa Gali in Delhi, arrested for revolutionary activities, was hanged.
4/26/1858Kunwar Singh, revolutionary of Indian mutiny and freedom fighter, passed away. He fought his last battle near Jagdishpur, Bihar on April 23, 1858 and defeated the Britishers but was deeply wounded. He also organised the national rebels.
9/16/1931Political prisoners Tarkeshwar Dutta and Santosh Mitra were shot by an officer at Hijli detention camp near Kharagpur. They were arrested for attending the Hijli meeting.
8/9/1965Pakistan chose to persist while the Indian Army Corps on the ceasefire line got down to neutralizing the Gibraltar Force. As a first step, main infiltration routes were blocked and Pakistan was forced out of the Haji Fir bulge (known to them as Bedori).
7/10/1992SROSS-C placed in orbit. Indian National Satellite (INSAT-2A), first indigenously-built satellite of second-generation INSAT series launched from Kourore. This is more operational multi-purpose communication and enhanced meteorology satellite. It is still in service.
