Description:
Aadi Pooram is celebrated as Goddess Andal Jayanthi (Birthday), who is the incarnation of Goddess Bhoodevi. Andal is also known as Kothai, Nachiyar and Goda Devi. It is believed that the Goddess Herself descends on earth on this special day to bless Her devotees.
It is celebrated during the month of Aadi (July- August), the fourth month in Tamil calendar, on the day Pooram or Poora Phalguni Nakshtra falls.
Aaadi Aashda Shravana month is when spirituality is at its peak and the (spiritual) power of women at its highest. Worshipping goddesses in this month is bellyved to bring good health, prosperity, courage, intelligence and wealth.
